The crater watch
The astral colossi - giants of crystal and old stone that came down with the star - stand on the approaches to the Crater of the Fallen Star, and eclipse rangers shoot from the ledges round it. Break two colossi and six rangers, and the way to the crater is open.

Star-Warden Cassian says
“The colossi came down with the star - they were part of it, or its guard. Three of them stand on the approaches to the crater: at the top of the ramp and on the lip north and south. The rangers are men, or were - they worship the star and wait for it to rise, and they shoot anyone who comes to stop it.”
“Two colossi and six rangers. Then there is nothing between you and the crater but the light.”
